Perennial plant growing to 15cm with small but hugely flavourful berries. This is a wilder variety of strawberry without runners so must be grown from seed and readily self-seeds once established. It is more tolerant of colder climates than some other varieties of strawberry. Alpine strawberries make a perfect addition as a ground cover to a food forest, at the base of fruit trees, can be grown in containers or make an attractive edging of any garden bed. It is also one of the few food plants that can tolerate part shade and highly acidic soils.
Sow: In full sun to part shade. Germinates best after storage for 2-4 weeks in the freezer.
