Bean – Cherokee Trail of Tears
A heirloom pole bean which can be eaten fresh or left to dry with jet black beans. Our beans have dark purple pods although some of this variety can be more green with purple flecks.
These beans have a strong historical connection with the Cherokee people as part of their cultural and culinary heritage carried with them on the ‘Trail of Tears’: a forced march over the Smoky Mountains by the US Federal government in 1839 to relocated them from their homelands.
Plant: Full sun. Requires a trellis for support. Plant direct at 10cm spacing.
